Repair, resizing, and restoration
We can repair nearly anything you bring us.
Jewelry, memorabilia, heirlooms, antiques, eyeglasses, and just about anything else can be repaired–and usually, it’s ready in the next day or two.
All repairs are done on-site; your items never leave the shop. This helps speed up the repair process. Yes, other jewelers offer repair work, but it’s often because they send their repairs to Robert Tucker’s.
Most jewelry needs to stay with us overnight. It’ll have a nice, cozy and safe bed behind a really thick wall of steel in one of our three vaults–out of sight from strangers’ eyes and hands.
Resizing Rings
Does your ring size need to go down or up in size? We can do either whether it’s made from . . .
- gold
- platinum
- silver
- brass
- steel – yes, even steel rings for those civil engineers!
Your ring will be resized with the exact grade and type of metal with which it was originally made. If you have a 14-karat white gold ring, 14-karat white gold will be used to adjust the size of your ring. You’ll be surprised how many times other shops will use a lesser quality metal to save money when resizing. However, we don’t believe in short-cuts; we believe in quality. Anything worth doing is worth doing right the first time.
“How much?”
To answer, we have to see your jewelry in person. Why? We need to determine how it’s constructed and inspect it under the microscope before we give you a quote. The price depends on:
- what you need done
- the condition and construction of your piece
- what metals and materials need to be used
- the condition of prior repairs
- how the gems are set
- how long we think it will take
Please call or text for a convenient appointment.
The Process
First, bring your item to the store to share with us what’s wrong and what you want fixed. We’ll take a good look at it and . . .
- let you know what needs to be done for proper repair
- estimate how much the repair will cost
- discuss how long it will take (we do our best to get it back to you in 24-48 hours)
- ask what’s the best way to contact you when it is ready
We take repairs on a first-come-first-serve basis. Out of respect for each customer’s time and jewelry, we do not “bump” repairs in favor of someone who wants to “pay more” to have their item repaired earlier. Each client has our assurance that we will get their repair completed as promised no matter how inexpensive or expensive the repair.
For those clients who need it, we are happy to deliver your repair to you. Simply ask!
Appointments are welcome because your time is valuable
While walk-ins are welcome, set up an appointment to get in and get out as fast as possible. It is typical for us to have several people in the store at the same time. Making an appointment assures that we’re ready for you when you walk in the door.
